New Zealander Hayley Westenra with the sensational voice gives a concert in the Concert Hall with band and string quartet 22nd april.
There is something special about Hayley Westenra's voice. It's not just a beautiful voice. It is a voice, you are moved by, because you feel it coming from a woman who has felt everything - love, joy, anger, despair - the whole spectrum and then some. Her voice was first known worldwide as the debut album 'Pure' went number 1 in 2003 when she was only 15th Now, Hayley 23, and her voice has gotten even more experience and strength.
'Pure' was the fastest selling international debut album in the history of the British classical charts. The subsequent album 'Odyssey' (2005), 'Treasure' (2007), 'River of Dreams: The Very Best of Hayley Westenra' (2008) and Paradiso (2011) - secured her international breakthrough with more than four million copies sold worldwide to date.
Hayley has performed for celebrities such as George W. Bush and Tony Blair, and has been a personal 'songster' of the English queen. She has also appeared at many prestigious sporting events including football (the FA Cup Final), Baseball (MLB in the U.S.) and rugby, where she proudly sings the New Zealand national anthem in support of his beloved team All Blacks."
Hayley is briefly interviewed in today's ClassicFm podcast. Her interview starts at 13m11sec, if your impatient- the interview without the irrelevant bits is here.
It seems that even fishes get to hear Hayley! according to ClassicFM Hayley will be performing to the fish and 40 people at the Sealife London Aquarium on 24 February. Attendance at the concert was a prize in a contest run by ClassicFm.
Tomorrow (Friday) night is chat night. Our monthly chat event from 8pm UK time. Be there! Especially as last month's didn't happen as the site was down. Just click on "chat" and follow the instructions to login or create an account.
According to the website, things to do in Guernsey, Hayley will be performing Sunday 27th May 2012 5pm till 9.30pm at the KGV (King George 5th Playing fields) in Guernsey
a couple of other sites reproduced the NZ article without additonal info. Frankly, im a little surprised by the lack of attention for Hayley. I guess they all made too much fuss last week.
